Real estate developer Panattoni has secured planning consent to speculatively develop two new warehouses as part of a 200,000ft² logistics scheme in Crawley, West Sussex.
The larger facility will be 134,012ft² and will be joined by a smaller 65,660ft² facility. They will be built on a 10-acre brownfield site near Gatwick Airport.
Panattoni is targeting a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and an EPC rating of ‘A’ for the new development. It plans to achieve this through a range of on-site sustainability features including 15% roof lights and electric vehicle (EV) charging points.
Construction is set to begin in late September and is expected to reach practical completion in Q4 2024.
This will be the final of Panattoni’s three recent southern developments to begin construction, with the other two located at Burgess Hill and in Brighton. All three are scheduled for completion next year.
David McGougan, Development Director at Panattoni, explains that these developments reflect the company’s “confidence in and the strength of the south coast’s logistics market”.
